NO to war in Libya

The Eleventh Plenary of the Iberian Federation of Anarchist Youth (FIXED) wishes to express its frontal opposition to military intervention by Western forces in the social conflict originated in Libya. The current strategy of forces "allied" responds to economic and imperialist interests and is well known to us by recent cases occurred in the Middle East.

as an anarchist organization, we express our rejection of any military institution, which seeks the imposition of forms of control through military force. NATO and the UN are seeking to disguise imperialist agencies under false concepts of benevolence and charity, because it is actually seeking the satisfaction of economic and political interests of the great empires they represent.

The media have shown a completely tied to the conflict in Libya. Firstly it has pursued a strategy to discredit the Gaddafi's political regime, when you have been keeping quiet about it for decades. On the other hand, has handled the reality of the revolt in Libya and have conditioned the interests of the Libyan people, assimilating to the interests of the Western political class. The press has dichotomized armed conflict, while the intervention in Iraq was shown as something negative, the intervention in Libya now is presented as something positive and necessary to save the Libyan people from a dictatorship that has been allowing for years. Not surprisingly, the SETS considers the intervention in Libya as an invasion and interference in the political destiny of the Libyan people. Aiming to assimilate the process these people lived in the transition to Europe: Spain, Germany, Portugal ... Libya wants to become a mercenary of western interests. Its strategic position and its energy resources are very attractive, just as social and historical situation of Libya makes a social revolt fancy too dangerous to the interests hierarchical authoritarian societies. West wants to finish the work that began in Italy during the colonial era and perpetuating the hierarchical forms of government.

regret the role that is taking the army, replacing the neighborhood committees, a figure who embodies the self-organization of the people in the riots the Arab world, and acting as guides on the way to the perpetuation of authoritarian societies. At this point plays a fundamental role, once again, the image that shows the media. Extrapolating the demonstrations of joy in isolated sectors of the population for the intervention "ally" as something widespread in Libyan society, that rejects any foreign intervention. The performance of English and Portuguese exposes hypocrisy that have taken action against the social cuts that have taken place. The returns which have been raised Iberian rulers now finds its justification in the waste economic intervention is to divert the essence of the revolt Libya.

FIJA's position is to support the revolt of the Libyan people in the fight against all forms of authority. We oppose Western intervention because we do not differentiate between forms of power. For us, the Gaddafi regime is as pernicious as Western regimes. The revolt of the Libyan people can only be supported by proletarian internationalism. Another thing means the deviation of the revolt, to meddle with forces beyond the working class within
a struggle against the elements that oppress.

Why the world left today should support military intervention in Libya

understand that the title is not inviting to read the article. The words "intervention military "and" left "do not match very well and grind in the ear of anyone who is considered left-wing, really left. Still, I invite you to read my arguments and then if they want to judge according to his principles and convictions. The history of mankind is accelerating and requires that we begin to review all positions and dogmas that during all these years of apparent historical rest have acquired and assimilated. The intention of this article is the claim of a revolutionary Marxist reasoning itself to events that are occurring in North Africa and the Middle East, free from imperialist clichés.

Before considering the merits of the issue worth clarifying the premises on which part of my reasoning. Firstly I hope that at this point in the conflict in Libya and we have all rejected the conspiracy theory. Not go into detail on this issue because much has been said and much has been written and I wrote something too [1]. Just wanted to add a detail to this issue, at any time Gaddafi accuses the West of a plot, moreover, Gaddafi accused the rebels of "drugs" and being members of "Al Qaeda" in an attempt to win Western support. Qaddafi knows that is an internal rebellion, because he could have accused the West of intervention to gain the support of his people, but preferred to attack the rebels to win Western support.

Secondly I assume that what is happening in Libya is a democratic revolution. As a democratic revolution which is expected to see red flags is unthinkable, as would have caused disunity in the many conflicting wills that exist right now in opposition, however, have chosen an ampersand spontaneously to serve the heterogeneity, the flag of independence Libya (also monarchy). In my opinion, its use should be rather a symbol of rejection of the green flag more than a symbol of longing for the monarchy. There is no clear direction in opposition, is more a conglomerate of interests, organizations and activists with a common agenda, the fall of dictator Qaddafi and the yearning for democracy and human rights. Surely within the opposition elements are found, they shall, after Gadhafi if it falls down, used to become the new Libyan oil business with the West, do not deny it, but is also likely that the Libyan people once fallen Gaddafi does not allow any another system that is not a real democracy, as indeed is happening right now in Tunisia and Egypt.

Third, Gaddafi is no guarantee of anything resembling a democracy, much less a proletarian or socialist democracy. Gaddafi is no more or less what Ben Ali and Mubarak, is exactly the same, a tyrant rich by the wealth of the territory it controls. Claiming that the political system can be reformed Gaddafi is to enter the field of illusion and magic, Gadhafi seeks only the welfare of his family and not the Libyan people, he prefers to bring his people into civil war before to resign. It is true that the Libyans are likely to have better living conditions than their neighbors, but it is not only living conditions, it is democracy, freedom, justice and dignity. For while the Libyan people shared the crumbs of profit oil that belongs as collective rights, individuality and your family is the most profit for himself, just as Ben Ali and Mubarak. For if we reason in this way, ie, that the good conditions of life compared to our neighbors we vaccinate any rebellion, is like saying that in Europe we can never rebel, as compared to the rest of the world we live so badly. Yet we rebelled or tried, it is not just about living conditions, but a system that oppresses us and we canceled, although compared with neighboring're not so bad.

That said, we can only support the rebels still any doubts that we can generate their composition. Gaddafi means no change, the history of Libya to stop other so many years. The rebels means a chance of bourgeois democracy, and from this the birth of an organization post a proletarian socialist revolution. Much has been said on this point in the history of socialist and Marxist thought, and all agree on the need currents of bourgeois democracy because that is where the proletariat acquires its class consciousness. And we see in Libya, Gaddafi was responsible for eliminating all opposition, bourgeois, socialist, of all kinds. Not be expected then that the Gaddafi regime born a social force, because it is not necessary conditions for it, but a heterogeneous force that claims democracy, as is happening. I'm still looking forward to reading a Marxist analysis on the current situation in Libya to make me see that they have to do the rebels or the rebellion should be left to European and Latin American support them without reservation.

From this full support for the rebels, then we should observe their claims, which can be summed up in demand for democracy to Libya, international aid request takes the form of arms and a no-fly zone and non- intervention foreign land in Libya. The rebels have made it clear that it is they who must overthrow Gaddafi and do not want foreign troops in Libya and will turn against them. Resolution 1973 adopted by the Security Council of the United Nations will indeed affect the need for a no-fly zone, protection of civilians and civilian areas, and of explicitly prevents land occupied the territory. I understand that decision after analyzing in depth that prevents the use of the imperialist purposes, not deny it. Nor do I doubt that this resolution is to end imperialist attempt to use and control of Libyan oil, do not deny it. Moreover, within the meaning of the vote of each of the powers in the Security Council can guess, or glimpsed what Gaddafi has bought wills and wills which have bought the rebels. Still, worldwide there is no alternative if we support the rebels without reservations, since they have asked even at the risk of an imperialist invasion likely land in Libya, which has yet been produced.

The position of the English left has been that of "no war" . I understand the position in theory but not in practice. Try to explain this point using the statements of the MEP Willy Meyer [2] . Through the aforementioned article I find that Meyer insists that "the solution to this conflict that has become a civil war is political and diplomatic pressure to give notice to the parties to a verifiable ceasefire with the presence of international observers and to establish a timetable for elections to enable the Libyan people to exercise self-determination. You can not tolerate any military interference " . In theory to me, and I think anyone reading this, we would like all conflicts are solved through dialogue, but in practice not always be so. Gaddafi before the imperialist intervention said it would take Benghazi in fire and blood and was going to go house to house rebel reprisals. If the allies had not intervened Qaddafi surely would have turned their threats and then there would be no dialogue possible, because one party simply does not exist, would be dead or missing. In practice the position of dialogue and non-intervention means the extermination of the rebels, we wish it were otherwise but terribly true. Gaddafi has the military power and so was winning the war, and since his regime never sought a cease-fire before the intervention imperialist military. Gaddafi did not want to talk, wanted time to crush the rebellion. Only after the imperialist intervention cease-fire talks, as the military forces have been balanced, or have leaned toward the rebellious. In theory the ideal situation would have been a departure from Gaddafi with the least possible loss of life, as has happened in Tunisia and Egypt, but in practice this has not happened. We assume that revolutions are violent, not because the people who stand to be a ruthless murderers and bloodthirsty revenge, but rather because who has the power or benefits it does not want to leave his position without a fight, though Libya has taken this fight to end civil war. The difference in Libya not the brand of imperialism, but the attitude of Gaddafi will not leave office unless they throw it by force, as already demonstrated.

In this case, the imperialists have not started a war. As Meyer himself acknowledges there was already a civil war in progress, and Gaddafi's statements infer that he intended to crush the rebels without contemplation. I agree with military intervention not because I think the international community should take to clean bombing Qaddafi, this should be the task of the Libyan people themselves, but because otherwise it would have meant the extermination of rebel forces and the message to other Arab peoples are rising up in their respective countries the use of military force to suppress the rebellion will be allowed by the international community. How to defend in the near future that the international community to do something about the repression in Bahrain and Yemen if we do not support something done now before more than possible extermination and more than possible repression in Libya?

I agree with military intervention in the current terms because the rebels themselves, who believe the revolutionary forces now in Libya, and they want and need it. I do not know who to tell the rebels must carry their rebellion, and I'm not the one to tell the rebels that practice must stop because the world left crush has no strength left to help the world and will not allow that helps imperialism, which has oil interests in the area. When the imperialists seek to enter Libya or military operations against the rebels approach, then I'm against. My support will always be fully with the rebels until they fall Gaddafi. When he falls then we observe, analyze and decide again.

practice and once again we really do need to rethink our theoretical convictions.

March 8. Working Women's Day

One year, come March 8, Working Women's Day, which commemorates the death of 146 workers in the Cotton Textile Factory in New York, after being burned in 1908 the factory to stop closure and seconded that these women strike for weeks to improve their miserable working conditions.

Today, more than a century later, the state and capital, aided by their official spokesmen, the media (in) the mass media, are using that time-symbol of the struggle of the women against exploitation, to teach , from the official, what is equality, what the struggle for emancipation and how far we can go in that struggle. From his look manufactured, manipulated and domesticated, tell us that equality is that there are as many women as men in parliament, have ministers, entrepreneurs and heads, the women we join the forces of repression as the police or the military. They try to impose that grant equal to the beat, as if we need "leadership seminars" paid by the State to be free.

For years we have observed how much of the feminist movement falls again and again in that game driven from power, to launch a cross-class discourse according to which the workers must take a common struggle with women in positions of power or in authority. Little we have in common with the powerful, but the fact of being women. Lead back and guide them to their advantage any fight left in his hands, and when necessary to "sell" the cause of sexism in their political and / or economic, they will not shake them pulse, as has happened on countless occasions.

In the demonstrations of March 8 feels more festive atmosphere, and since then little combative, having become almost folklore. We seem to forget that every day we are suffering exploitation in all its forms and who is behind: politiques, businessmen, bankers, bureaucrats of all stripes, liberades, jefxs, gurus of any religion, media ... elles Todes support this unjust system and perpetuate inequality in all its manifestations. But by the March 8, elles Todes speak of equality, and many take to the streets to make Paripe. Some even would have us believe that they are "working" to change things: it is making up the surface so that everything remains the same.

We can not fight a type of oppression if we ignore the other manifestations of oppression, exploitation and hierarchy. That would make the fight in vain and superficial. If we really want things to change, you need to do a deeper analysis of reality and assume that any kind of hierarchy is detrimental. What do we need to have heads rather than leaders? What is the difference between being apaleade by a police or riot? What else gives us that men and women rule us? What we want is not GOVERNORS by anyone at all, be masters of our lives and that no decisions for us. Only then can we achieve a free, equal and fair. That is the goal of anarchism: the release of their Todes individuals, of all mankind.

Therefore, today more than ever, it is necessary struggle from below, going to the root of the problem, which is the domination of one people over others, and submission of these. Those who struggle against hierarchy and inequality imposed by the patriarchy must extrapolate this fight to any kind of domination. Eradicate inequality and hierarchy, wherever they come, we fight them every day. Let's obey and to delegate apart of filters and what affects us,'s organize and take back our lives. NI NI

Housewarming Bible Verse

The poverty of anti-imperialism (at least the current use the term)

Libya's rebellion is forcing us to position ourselves, and therefore, some masks begin to fall to really reveal what are the ideological positions of each other. And not worth hesitations, and silences equidistant positions. Libyan forces or may not be.

I called attention deeply as is using the term anti-imperialism as the only pro-Gaddafi defense positions, or at least acquiescent with Qaddafi and not clearly in favor of the rebellion Libya. Found that in the middle and bottom of the current discussion is what we mean by anti-imperialism, it may then ask what that is anti-imperialism and ask what is the current use of the term.

Going to the origin of the idea from a Marxist point of view, it is necessary to quote Lenin.

"(...) But definitions too short, but are comfortable, then summarize the main, are nevertheless inadequate, since it is necessary to deduce from them especially very essential features of the phenomenon that defined. Therefore, without forgetting the conditional and relative significance of all definitions in general, which can never cover all aspects of the relations of the phenomenon in its full development, it should give a definition of imperialism containing the five following key features, namely: 1) the concentration of production and capital has to such a high degree of development that has created monopolies which play a decisive role in economic life, 2) the fusion of capital the banking industry and the establishment, on the basis of this "finance capital" of the financial oligarchy, 3) the export of capital, unlike the export of commodities acquires particular importance, 4) the formation of international monopoly capitalists, which share the world, and 5) the territorial division of the world among the capitalist powers important. Imperialism is capitalism at the stage of development which has taken the dominance of monopolies and finance capital, has acquired an importance which the export of capital, has begun the distribution of the world by the international trusts has over the distribution of the whole of it among the biggest capitalist countries. (...)" [1]

understand that we can all recognize the quote from Lenin the current situation. Globalization and the global development of capitalism has brought terms like dictatorship markets and the rising power of supranational organizations capitalist and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Trade Organization (WTO), rating agencies, multinationals, and so on. In all these supranational organizations legitimized by the citizens recognize the points of 1 to 4 of Lenin's quote, which we summarize in the control of national policies through financial pressures and market. It is worth pausing to analyze the number 5, the territorial division of the world among the biggest capitalist powers. Distinguish two different conceptions of territorial control by the capitalist powers.
  • The concept of British imperialism. Imperialism Britain from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries was based on military control of territory. Through military action controlled the public, political and commercial center of the occupied territories for the benefit of the metropolis.
  • The conception of American imperialism. U.S. imperialism is more subtle but now, with the financial crisis is more visible. It is the commercial control of the territories with the continued threat of force. This is commercial control in several ways or a combination of them, namely, through pressure of supranational bodies like the IMF or the WTO, the establishment of multinational in the territory, political control of dictatorships or democracies, through corruption, coups. Behind the commercial control is ever present threat of use of force, weapons capacity, by the major capitalist powers. It is noteworthy that the most common form used by the U.S. imperialism to control a territory it has lost control of the coup is using military forces inside the country concerned, where Venezuela 2002 and Honduras 2009.
Although I have used two specific countries to define the different concepts that I find in the control territories, this does not exclude that the U.S. sometimes use how British imperialism cases of Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq among others.

return to Libya. Under the prism imperialism / anti-imperialism that derives from this analysis and other analysis beyond the social and economic situation in Libya, there are two findings:
  • In Libya there is a popular uprising, not a coup use military status.
  • Libya and was a territory controlled by imperialism, multinational oil companies already were on Libyan territory and the IMF applauded the Libyan economic policies [2].
We conclude therefore that we are really facing a rebellion against the Libyan regime and its derived pro-imperialist, pro-capitalist for reasons largely beyond the actual global Libyan context. It is an Arab revolt against the dominant imperialism in the region, including the territory of Libya. Yet European and Latin American left that position to take questions, because the meaning of anti-imperialism has been kidnapped to be defined only anti-American positions, and the U.S. has positioned against Gaddafi. This conception of anti-imperialism, this conception that leads to more analysis to be placed in front of the policy of the U.S., is that qualified them as miserable and poor.

In the recent words of Fidel Castro, I conclude that somehow recognizes that the rebellion in Libya has not been caused by U.S. imperialism, but imperialism obviously try to capitalize on the current situation.

"(...) NATO imperialism and seriously concerned about the revolutionary wave that began in the Arab world, where it generates much of the oil that sustains fuel economy of developed and rich countries could not fail to take advantage of the internal conflict in Libya to promote military intervention. (...) " [3]

Still, it is a clear example of anti-imperialism design simply as a position contrary to the policy adopted by the U.S., where the anti-imperialist, in my opinion, should be the support and sustenance to those who fight against pro-imperialist regime, pro-capitalist for many social advances in theory have made in the country and have many uncertainties about the final outcome of this struggle or character of rebellion.

Moreover, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez promotes international mediation, promoted in other words a graceful exit Gaddafi, a no-trade, a halt to the rebellion. If we understand the revolution as a process of change, even if we understand communism as "the" real movement "in the words of Marx himself, and disputes that exceed the current state of affairs" [4] propose a non-movement , a no-trade, is equivalent to making a counter proposal. And if there any doubt Chavez alignment with Qaddafi, Gaddafi himself in these last hours are requesting the entry of a delegation UN in the area [5], contrary to the findings of the rebels who do not want any foreign intervention in Libya.

If we do a bit of memory, the statement of the socialist character of the Cuban revolution is dated April 16, 1961, just over two years after the triumph of the revolution and four years after the start of it . Can anyone imagine any sector of the left then propose that four-year international mediation to the Cuban conflict?

The current concept of anti-imperialism leads us to focus our analysis on the danger of NATO intervention in Libya, thus avoiding (purposely or not) any analysis of the nature of the rebellion Libya in particular and the Arab Revolt in general. We are so obsessed with the U.S. we have not analyzed the role of counter that is putting China on the subject. Chinese bureaucratic imperialism, if I may say so.

However, in contrast to the conservative attitude and equidistant from the American and European socialist leaders (eg the Communist Party of Spain [6]), we find support for the Libyan revolt of the Socialist Party Algerian workers [7] Tunisian Left Party Renewal [8] and the Communist Party of Egypt [9] to name a few. Also, the United Secretariat of the Fourth International is positioned next to the Libyan rebels [10].

term use of anti-imperialism today, as opposition to the U.S., leads to the conclusion that NATO should not come as Gaddafi to overthrow a dictator or a controlled democracy. But a deeper analysis should lead to the conclusion that the entry of NATO is dangerous because it would disarm the armed people who have risen against the tyrant. And the difference is not trivial, since while in the first case we leads to position with Gadhafi, the second case we are positioning ourselves with those who have taken up arms. What is the revolution but the armed people that stands against the powers that be?

Today, the imperialist cause is miserable in its third sense "extreme poverty" [11], as simple and lack of reasoning, but it is wretched in its fourth sense, " pest pedicle, usually produced by the high sufferer's uncleanliness " [11], because it spreads like a plague of lice that suck blood and undermining any rationale, Marxist socialism and the realities we face.

avoided, as that prevents us from adopting anti-imperialism anti-capitalist position.
